Dianne
Ursini was looking for a Made in Idaho sticker for the PBX
systems Technology Alignment manufactures here in Idaho.
She was proud of the fact that the coding now takes place
here for the telephone system and the enclosure was made
by Steelhead Metal in Nampa also. The quality of workmanship
of the case from Steelhead Metal was something to be proud
of and it was made right here in Nampa, ID. When looking
for an organization that would have these she contacted
Buy Idaho and was inquiring about companies she had seen
on the list. The list provided companies selling competitive
products manufactured in China or other overseas companies.
Buy Idaho lists companies, for a fee, that employ individuals
in the state but can sell products manufactured anywhere
and may not even sell products manufactured here.
Dianne
spoke to Kade Price, the VP of Development and explained
that there were no organizations in the state that provide
promotion of products made solely in Idaho. Kade and Dianne
decided the next step was to create a website and search
engine for people who wanted to support companies that manufacture
in the great State of Idaho. This is the reason Made in
Idaho was formed and created. Technology Alignment believes
in community service and will be launching The Main Street
Project sometime in 2009 to promote companies all around
the United States. You
can visit The Main Street Project by clicking here.
Technology
Alignment believes in open source software and open source
concepts. Made in Idaho is based on an open source concept
while not charging for something that should be free. A
prime example of one of Technology Alignment's open source
projects is Pioneer Linux. Pioneer Linux is a replacement
for Microsoft Windows and is provided freely to consumers
and business. Even though there is no cost, the operating
system is rock solid and provides the functionality that
most users look for. Made in Idaho is based on that concept.
Kade
is a native of Idaho and was born in Malad while Dianne
was born in Connecticut and continued to migrate West and
landing in Idaho from Wyoming. Dianne believes she found
a home not only for her business but also for herself. Kade
hopes to move back to Malad one day and open an expansion
office for Technology Alignment.
The
Made in Idaho Program is designed to assist Idaho companies
with the identification and promotion of their Idaho made
products or substantially enhanced products and services.
Membership allows Made in Idaho participants to use the
Made in Idaho design stickers on their products. Those that
sell Made in Idaho products may also order door stickers
letting patrons know they sell products manufactured in
the state.
